  A legal, security and brand team can treat domain names as a procurement chore until a spoofed customer portal, hijacked login page, malicious renewal notice or typo domain turns the brand into an attack surface. Nameshield is a useful test of whether a specialist corporate registrar can still justify an insurance-like control bill when mass-market registrars advertise cheap renewals, free DNSSEC and simple dashboards. The answer is not that every domain should move to an expensive service.
