ARIN Advisory Council

ARIN's Advisory Council is called advisory, but the Policy Development Process gives it a more consequential position. It receives proposals, determines whether they become drafts, develops and revises language, judges readiness, abandons or advances work and recommends policy to the Board. Petitions constrain parts of that authority, yet their short clocks and organisational-support threshold mean the Council remains the institution that most participants must persuade before a number-resource idea can become law inside ARIN.

ARIN's June 2025 call for nominations is a governance event, not a routine notice. The registry opened the path for three Board of Trustees seats and five Advisory Council seats, while also running the NRO Number Council nomination track for the same election cycle. The signal is procedural quality: ARIN's member-governance system depends on whether nominations, nominee evaluation, slate formation and voting-contact readiness produce a credible leadership pool before policy and registry decisions move into the next term.
