Summary

  • Connectbase has expanded its relationship with IG Group into strategic advisory, including executive introductions and support for opportunities through contracting and execution.
  • The September 9 announcement names target sectors, not customer wins. Fees, exclusivity and a quantified sales pipeline are not disclosed.

Software does not book the meeting

Connectbase sells a way to make connectivity buying and selling less manual. Its new advisory agreement shows that automating a transaction and securing the relationship behind a prospective deal remain different jobs.

Under the agreement announced on September 9, IG Group will help identify and engage prospects in data centres, cloud services, AI neoclouds, hyperscalers and subsea infrastructure. The remit includes executive introductions and meetings, followed by support through contract finalisation and project execution. That is a description of the work the adviser is being asked to do, not a list of contracts already won.

The IG Group involved is InterGlobix's digital-infrastructure advisory affiliate. The announcement is about services, not an acquisition or an equity investment.

Two sorts of market access

Connectbase's platform uses location intelligence and automated applications to help network buyers and sellers find suppliers and manage commercial activity. It also describes integration with customer-relationship and order-management systems. Those tools can make an opportunity easier to identify and process.

The new mandate addresses a different part of market access: reaching executives whose organisations might become commercially important to Connectbase. Location data can indicate where a service is relevant. It does not, by itself, establish that a prospective customer has a funded requirement, an internal sponsor or an agreed purchasing timetable.

The two activities can complement each other. An introduction may help establish what a customer actually needs; a repeatable workflow can then reduce the effort of transacting. The agreement does not prove that either step has delivered a particular new sale or shortened a measured sales cycle.

The surrounding publicity is part of the context

The advisory engagement follows collaboration around The Connected World LIVE! 2026 in Chicago, running September 8–11. InterGlobix is an event collaboration partner, and InterGlobix Magazine is a media partner. The release also announces a magazine cover feature about Connectbase.

These roles are disclosed, not hidden. They help explain how the organisations are working together. The resulting publicity should therefore be read in that commercial context, not treated as separate proof that customers have adopted the platform or that its technical claims have been independently tested. Nothing in the announcement establishes paid editorial, preferential platform rankings or improper conduct.

No advisory fee, success-fee formula, exclusivity commitment or precise duration is published. Nor is there a quantified pipeline or named customer contract attributable to the engagement. The news is that Connectbase is adding relationship-building capacity to its automated commerce proposition. The commercial result still has to emerge.
