Chile’s Undersecretariat of Telecommunications (Subtel) and the Development Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) have officially joined forces with Pioneer Consulting and Salience Consulting to assess the viability of a submarine fibre-optic cable connecting mainland Chile to Antarctica. Howard Kidorf, managing partner at Pioneer Consulting, highlighted the significance of this initiative: “Pioneer Consulting is committed to leveraging its global expertise in undersea fibre optics to support CAF and Chile in advancing global climate science and ice sheet research.”
