Anaplan is easiest to misread as another spreadsheet replacement. The stronger view is that it sells continuity in the planning model itself: formulas, hierarchies, permissions, data feeds, scenario logic, consultant knowledge and budget-owner trust that become harder to move once a company has run real forecasts through them. That makes Anaplan a useful case study in enterprise software where the switching cost is not a license key but the memory of how a company thinks about its own future.
