    SingTel and Hitachi collaborate to build innovative data centres

    What happened

    SingTel and Hitachi agreed at a meeting this week to collaborate on the development of next-generation data centres and GPU clouds in Japan and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The collaboration will combine SingTel’s expertise in data centres and connectivity with Hitachi’s capabilities in data centre integration, including green energy solutions, cooling systems, storage infrastructure and data management. The goal of the collaboration is to improve data centre performance and functionality to accelerate AI adoption and the digital transformation of enterprises.

    The agreement builds on the companies’ previous partnership, which included integrating SingTel’s Paragon platform with Hitachi’s AI applications for manufacturing operations and enterprise customers. The collaboration aims to address the challenges customers face when implementing AI capabilities. Japan has become one of the largest and fastest-growing data centre markets in the Asia-Pacific region as demand for AI and cloud services continues to grow. The market is expected to reach $5 billion by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 9.8%.

    Bill Chang, CEO of SingTel, expressed his excitement about the partnership with Hitachi and the opportunities it presents in the Japanese market, where SingTel aims to be a leader in the Asia-Pacific region by leveraging its digital capabilities and partnerships, while Mr Toshiaki Tokunaga, Executive Vice President of Hitachi, highlighted the company’s commitment to solving customer challenges and promoting sustainable development.
