    • Fibocom introduces the FG332 module and integrated 5G RedCap CPE solution at Computex 2024.
    • This module combines the latest Wi-Fi 7/6 technologies for improved performance and coverage.

Fibocom expands its RedCap module portfolio with the launch of FG332 at Computex 2024. Additionally, it introduces a 5G RedCap CPE solution integrated with FG332 and the latest Wi-Fi 7/6 technologies.

    OUR TAKE
Fibocom’s announcement of the FG332 module and 5G RedCap CPE solution at Computex 2024 seems to be a step in the right direction, but there is uncertainty about whether Fibocom’s offerings will truly deliver the exceptional performance and low latency as claimed. It raises questions about the company’s ability to stay ahead in the competitive 5G market.

Fibocom advances new 5G Redcap module at Computex 2024

Fibocom launches FG332 at Computex 2024, expanding its RedCap module range and unveiling a 5G RedCap CPE solution integrated with FG332, Wi-Fi 7, and Wi-Fi 6. Developed from MediaTek’s T300 chipset, FG332 accelerates 5G RedCap commercialisation with lightweight design, optimised power consumption, and 5G SA support. It ensures constant network connections with backward compatibility to 4G, offering up to 227Mbps downlink and 122Mbps uplink speeds.

    Cutting-edge technology and design

Fibocom’s FG332 module adopts the LGA form factor, packaged at 29x32mm, and utilises a hardware density design for a compact PCB area, allowing greater flexibility in product design. The module is pin-compatible with Fibocom’s LTE Cat 4 module series NL668, easing concerns about hardware investment and time to market. The FG332 performs in a highly power-efficient mode, extending battery life for User Equipment (UE). It supports regional frequency bands in Europe, North America, and APAC, with the FG332-NA engineering sample available in Q3 2024.

Integrated Wi-Fi solutions for enhanced connectivity

The FG332 is positioned for the mass deployment of Customer-Premises Equipment (CPE) and portable mobile hotspot devices with RedCap capabilities. The 5G RedCap CPE solution, combined with the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6 technology, offers high-cost performance and low-power consumption. This integration provides consumer and enterprise users with a seamless and interference-free wireless experience.

The new 5G RedCap and Wi-Fi 7 solution delivers higher data throughput (BE3600) and lower latency, compatible with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be protocols, enabling end devices to reach speeds up to 3571Mbps under dual-band circumstances (2.4GHz + 5GHz). For a more accessible 5G RedCap and Wi-Fi 6 option, the solution maintains a speed of 3Gbps with optimised power consumption.
