Fintech Fringe has made a vibrant return to London Tech Week 2024, showcasing the UK’s prime position for fostering fintech growth and scalability.

Supercharging fintechs for scale and success

The event underscored how new organisations can learn from established firms. Nick Drewett, CCO of Starling Engine, shared insights on commercial strategies and technological advancements. He emphasised the role of engineers in decision-making, stating, “At Starling, engineers innovate and write the code, adjusting the platform as needed. Our infrastructure is designed to handle failures without consumer impact.”

Drewett also highlighted the importance of call centres in building trust and relationships, moving beyond the traditional view of call centres as mere cost centres.

How to pivot products to supercharge sales

A panel featuring David McHenry of HSBC Innovation Banking, Alexandra Rivas-Gale of ClearBank, and Adam Moulson of Griffin, explored how firms must keep customers in mind and pivot products to align with their evolving needs. Moulson stressed, “Understand the problem you are solving and its value to the customer before designing anything. Prove there is a viable business opportunity.”
