    • Nokia’s Broadband Easy cuts FTTH deployment time by 20% using AI and automation
    • Aims to connect 74 million unserved European homes with faster, cost-effective fibre access

What happened: Nokia’s AI-powered broadband easy platform targets faster global FTTH deployment

Nokia has launched Broadband Easy, a digital platform built to modernise and accelerate fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network rollouts. It aims to address high costs and logistical challenges, especially in rural and underserved regions, by combining automation and AI to reduce operational delays and improve network quality.

McKinsey reports that digitising fibre rollouts can cut costs by 10–25%. Nokia’s platform taps into this potential by offering end-to-end visibility, AI-powered design, and streamlined field operation management. These capabilities reduce deployment time by 20% and limit manual errors through real-time data verification.

Broadband Easy integrates with Nokia Altiplano Access Controller and Design Center, letting operators manage certification, subcontractors, and installations from a central interface. It also supports multiple vendors and subcontractors, enhancing its global usability.

Sandy Motley, President of Fixed Networks at Nokia, stated: “With Broadband Easy, we’re making fibre deployment easier, faster, and more cost-effective. Our approach combines automation, insights, and deployment expertise to bring broadband to more communities, faster.”

Roland Montagne, Principal Analyst at IDATE, noted that Broadband Easy tackles critical FTTH hurdles, especially in Europe, where 74 million homes remain unconnected.

    Why it’s important

Demand for high-speed fibre broadband continues to grow, driven by digital transformation and the need for strong remote connectivity. One major obstacle remains the cost and complexity of fibre deployment, especially in remote or underserved areas.

With 74 million homes in Europe still lacking fibre, efficient rollout methods are urgent. Nokia’s Broadband Easy offers a standardised, AI-driven approach that digitises each step of deployment—from design to field execution—boosting accuracy, cutting delays, and improving subcontractor coordination.

Compatible with both Nokia and third-party platforms, the solution is scalable and adaptable. Its automation functions reduce errors and speed up certification, essential for fast-paced, resource-limited projects. Operators can also outsource rollout management to Nokia, reducing complexity.

This development supports efforts to expand reliable internet access and bridge the digital divide. Faster, lower-cost deployment benefits not only economies but also education, health, and government services in newly connected regions.
