  • Logitech’s Circle View Doorbell and Camera are still in production and available for purchase, despite initial confusion.
  • Apple HomeKit users can continue using these devices, which are among the few compatible with HomeKit Secure Video.

OUR TAKE
Logitech’s Circle View Doorbell and Camera are essential for Apple HomeKit users, offering key security and privacy features. Despite initial uncertainty from Logitech’s CEO about their availability, the company has confirmed these products are still in production and available for purchase. This is crucial for maintaining a secure and integrated smart home experience within the HomeKit ecosystem.

What happened

Logitech’s Circle View Doorbell and Circle View Camera, which are notable for their compatibility with Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video service, remain on the market. This follows a comment from Logitech’s CEO, Hanneke Faber, suggesting they might no longer be available. The company later confirmed through Wendy Spander, Global Head of Communications, that both products are still being manufactured and sold.

In a recent interview on The Verge’s Decoder podcast, Faber mentioned that smart home doorbells might not be part of Logitech’s current focus. However, the company has clarified that Circle View products are still in stock and can be purchased through Logitech’s website and retail partners.

Why it’s important

The continued availability of Logitech’s Circle View Doorbell and Circle View Camera is essential for Apple HomeKit users who value both security and privacy. These devices are among the few that support Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video service, which is prized for its robust privacy features and seamless integration with Apple’s ecosystem. For HomeKit users, having access to reliable security devices that adhere to Apple’s privacy standards is crucial for maintaining a secure smart home environment.

Logitech’s assurance that these products are still in production alleviates concerns about their potential discontinuation, ensuring that both existing users and new customers can continue to rely on them. This stability is particularly important given the limited number of compatible smart home devices on the market. Additionally, Logitech’s commitment to supporting its current product lineup underscores its dedication to customer satisfaction, even as it focuses on other business areas. This support ensures that investments in smart home security remain valuable and functional.
