    What happened

During the Dell Technologies Forum 2024, held at the Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Dell introduced “Dell AI for Telecom”, a programme specifically designed to simplify and expedite the deployment of artificial intelligence solutions for communications service providers, or CSPs.

This initiative builds upon Dell’s AI factory framework, which commenced in May and represents a joint effort with Nvidia. The programme leverages Dell PowerEdge XR8000 servers, which are equipped with Nvidia’s AI-ready LF4 Tensor Core GPUs and enterprise-grade AI software, making them ideal for deployment at the network edge. These servers are compact and powerful, capable of supporting advanced AI applications directly where data is generated and consumed. Additionally, Dell is collaborating with partners such as Simplify Networks Sdn Bhd to develop bespoke AI solutions that aid in predictive maintenance and enhance operational efficiencies. Such partnerships are crucial for addressing the specific needs of CSPs and ensuring that they can derive maximum benefit from the latest AI technologies, thereby improving their network performance and customer service experiences.

    Why it’s important

The launch of Dell AI for Telecom addresses the significant challenge faced by CSPs in balancing technological advancements with customer needs, as highlighted in a recent MeriTalk report. By fostering closer collaboration between business and IT leaders, Dell aims to overcome hesitations regarding AI adoption, particularly due to a lack of talent and available data. The programme advocates for a people-first approach to AI integration, encouraging a workplace culture that promotes learning and adaptability. Furthermore, it stresses the importance of data security, with a majority preference for on-premises or hybrid data storage models noted in Dell’s Innovation Catalyst Study. This initiative not only positions Dell as a leader in AI adoption within the telecommunications sector but also paves the way for enhanced network performance and customer service across the industry.
