    What happened

Anthropic launched Claude Enterprise on Wednesday, following a limited pilot of the business-focused tool, as announced in a blog post by the company.

Claude Enterprise offers enhanced security and administrative controls compared to its consumer-grade counterpart. It includes features such as native GitHub integration for programming tasks, as well as audit logs and role-based access with fine-grained permissions, all aimed at ensuring robust security and compliance monitoring within organizations.

Pricing for Claude Enterprise is tailored to each organization’s needs, depending on their scale of use and integration requirements. Scott White, a product manager at Anthropic, noted that organizations will collaborate with the sales team to develop a customized plan that best aligns with their specific AI implementation goals.

Anthropic’s Claude 3 and 3.5 models have garnered positive feedback in various evaluations and head-to-head comparisons. However, enterprises seek more than just advanced capabilities or performance. To address these needs, Anthropic has developed a comprehensive security strategy designed to reassure cautious enterprise clients and ensure robust protection and compliance.

    Why it’s important

Early adopters of Claude Enterprise, such as management consulting firm North Highland and AI research lab Midjourney, have utilized the tool for various purposes, including brainstorming, streamlining internal processes, translating content, and writing code, according to Anthropic.

Enterprise-grade versions of tools are crucial for attracting larger clients, a primary objective for Anthropic and other AI companies aiming to secure substantial enterprise budgets in a competitive landscape.

Anthropic’s launch comes shortly after the one-year anniversary of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise, which debuted during a surge of generative AI excitement. However, the focus has since shifted from curiosity to ROI concerns and risk management.

“We have this belief that we can do this responsibly and make our models safe, secure, and reliable while lowering hallucinations,” CEO Dario Amodei stated in June at an AWS conference. “We focus very heavily on that, and we don’t see it as conflicting with having the best model.”
