American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is revving up the electric vehicle (EV) game with agreements that promise to improve charging facilities for Honda and Acura EV owners.

    Expanding Charging Horizons

Honda announced partnerships with EVgo and Electrify America. These alliances, coupled with the adoption of the North American Charging Standard (NACS), increase the accessible charging stations for Honda and Acura EV customers. Through the HondaLink and Acura EV smartphone apps, drivers can effortlessly locate available charging stations, pay for charging, redeem credits, and even enroll in subscription plans—all without ever leaving the app.

    New Set of Charging Packages

Honda and Acura sweeten the deal further by offering a range of charging packages, customized to different lifestyles and needs. Whether you’re a homeowner or renter, a seasoned EV driver, or a newbie to the electric scene, there’s an option for you. These packages include public charging credits, charging equipment, and installation credits, making the transition to EV ownership smoother than ever.

    Tesla Supercharger Network Access

Honda and Acura have their eyes set on the Tesla Supercharger network. This opens the possiblity to access Tesla’s Supercharger stations.

Honda is part of a groundbreaking joint venture with seven major automakers. This alliance aims to create a robust, high-powered charging network for EVs; with the goal of prioritizing reliability and sustainability. Equipped with renewable energy sources, these charging stations will cater to all battery-powered electric vehicles.

    Home Electrification Options

Beyond the road, Honda offers the Home Electrification marketplace, a package the enables EV drivers to set up home charging options. This includes rooftop solar, home batteries, smart home energy management, and heat pump water heaters—tools that help minimize energy costs and reduce environmental impact.

    Charging Credit Collaboration with EVgo

EVgo, one of the nation’s premier public fast charging networks, has also teamed up with Honda to deliver a comprehensive suite of benefits to Honda and Acura EV drivers. This collaboration offers charging credits of up to $750 to qualifying drivers, allowing them to recharge their vehicles at EVgo’s extensive network of fast charging locations.

    The Road Ahead

With the imminent release of Honda’s latest EV models in 2024, drivers can expect a charging infrastructure that caters to their needs. Fast chargers, ranging up to 350kW, will dot the landscape, ensuring rapid recharging, while the integration of EVgo Inside™ into the HondaLink and Acura EV apps guarantees a seamless charging experience.

Cathy Zoi, CEO of EVgo, sums it up best: “Access to convenient and reliable fast charging is key to accelerating the mass adoption of electric transportation.” With these exciting developments on the horizon, it’s clear that Honda and Acura are steering the EV industry toward a brighter and more accessible future.
