    • Hetzner upgrades its data centers with Nokia’s carrier-grade routing solutions across Europe.

What happened: Nokia expands network security and data center solutions

Nokia Corporation has announced two significant partnerships aimed at strengthening cybersecurity and data infrastructure capabilities for key European clients. The Finnish telecommunications giant has signed contracts with Worldstream and Hetzner to deploy cutting-edge network security and routing solutions.

The agreement with Worldstream focuses on safeguarding businesses in the Netherlands and beyond against large-scale DDoS attacks. By integrating Nokia Deepfield Defender and 7750 SR routers, Worldstream has enhanced its DDoS mitigation capacity eightfold. This upgrade provides customers with network-based, real-time defence against sophisticated cyber threats, including AI-driven attacks. Nokia’s Senior Vice President for Network Infrastructure in Europe, Matthieu Bourguignon, emphasized that traditional mitigation techniques are no longer sufficient, highlighting the necessity of Nokia’s high-capacity, automated security solutions.

Meanwhile, Hetzner, a German-based hosting provider, has chosen Nokia to revamp its data center and core network infrastructure. By deploying Nokia’s carrier-grade routing solutions, Hetzner aims to enhance ultra-reliable and high-performance connectivity while simplifying operational complexities. The upgrade, which has already been implemented in Germany and Finland, is set to extend across Europe to accommodate growing digital infrastructure needs. Nokia’s energy-efficient routers, combined with advanced automation and real-time telemetry, provide Hetzner with improved network flexibility, resilience, and sustainability.

According to Martin Fritzsche, Head of Network at Hetzner, the collaboration ensures agility and scalability, allowing the company to meet increasing bandwidth demands and energy efficiency targets while maintaining high availability.

    Why it’s important

With the rising frequency and complexity of cyberattacks, robust network security measures have become essential for businesses. Nokia’s collaboration with Worldstream significantly strengthens its cybersecurity infrastructure, ensuring businesses remain protected against evolving DDoS threats. The implementation of Nokia’s Deepfield Defender and high-capacity routers underscores a shift toward network-based, automated security solutions that can rapidly detect and neutralize threats before they impact operations.

Simultaneously, Hetzner’s network infrastructure upgrade highlights the increasing demand for scalable, high-performance connectivity solutions across Europe. As digital transformation accelerates, data centers must evolve to accommodate higher bandwidth, improved resilience, and energy-efficient operations. Nokia’s carrier-grade routing technology not only enhances performance but also simplifies network management through real-time telemetry and automation.

These deals reinforce Nokia’s position as a leader in network security and data center innovation, offering businesses reliable and scalable solutions amid growing cyber threats and digital expansion. The combination of improved cybersecurity and enhanced connectivity plays a critical role in sustaining digital infrastructure for enterprises, cloud providers, and hosting companies worldwide.
