    Digital catapult joins 6G project to boost connectivity

    What happened: Digital catapult joins 6G leader project to advance connectivity

    Digital Catapult has joined the European Commission-backed 6G LEADER project. This initiative aims to advance 6G connectivity solutions. The project brings together leading tech companies, including Samsung Electronics UK, Telefonica, and Nokia UK.

    The project will focus on AI-driven solutions and sustainable network technologies. One of its key goals is to help decarbonise telecommunications. Digital Catapult will work on developing Open Radio Access Networks (Open RAN) and improving network performance.

    Why it’s important

    The European Commission’s investment highlights the strategic importance of the 6G LEADER initiative. The project will shape Europe’s future in telecommunications. It is also part of a broader effort to set global standards for future networks. The project will last for 36 months.
