A registrar, campaign vendor, civic organization or defensive-brand manager looking at .vote or .voto is not only asking whether a short domain is available. It is asking whether scarce names and registrar access can pay for the fixed cost of keeping a delegated namespace trustworthy: DNS resolution, EPP connectivity, escrow, ICANN fees, compliance labour, an abuse desk, premium inventory, renewal discipline and enough demand to justify using a purpose-built voting namespace instead of a legacy TLD domain, country-code domain, social handle, defensive registration bundle or no new domain at all.
