What happened: Ori expands AI cloud with Kao Data partnership

AI cloud provider Ori has chosen Kao Data to host its first UK-based AI cloud region, deploying NVIDIA H200 GPUs at its Harlow data centre. The facility, known for high-density colocation and renewable energy, will support Ori’s AI infrastructure expansion in Europe.

The collaboration allows Ori’s customers to access high-performance GPU clusters optimised for AI training and inference workloads. Kao Data’s facility is NVIDIA DGX-Ready, ensuring scalability for AI and deep learning applications. The partnership also supports sustainable AI computing, with the data centre powered by 100% renewable energy.

Ori’s CEO, Mahdi Yahya, highlighted Kao Data’s AI expertise, strategic location near London and Cambridge, and energy efficiency as key factors in the decision. Kao Data’s CCO Spencer Lamb stated that the partnership reinforces the UK’s role in AI and high-performance computing (HPC), attracting global AI startups.

Why it’s important

The collaboration between Ori and Kao Data strengthens the UK’s AI infrastructure. As demand for AI computing power grows, data centres must support high-performance GPU deployments to handle complex AI models and deep learning applications.

By hosting NVIDIA H200 GPUs at Kao Data’s Harlow campus, Ori gains access to a scalable and energy-efficient AI cloud environment. The upcoming GB200 architecture deployment in April 2025 signals further investment in AI-optimised cloud infrastructure.

The UK’s AI sector continues to attract global technology firms, and investment in AI-ready data centres is essential for growth. Kao Data’s colocation solutions and renewable energy commitments align with the industry’s sustainability goals. This partnership highlights the need for AI-specialised infrastructure to support the next generation of machine learning and generative AI applications.
