What happened: Orange and Camusat formalise low-carbon strategy

Orange and Camusat have signed a pioneering agreement as part of Orange’s ‘Partners to net zero carbon’ programme, committing suppliers to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The deal sets clear targets for Camusat to reduce the CO2eq emissions linked to its products and services, focusing on lowering energy use, optimising logistics, and adopting more sustainable materials in telecom infrastructure projects.

The two companies will jointly implement action points to drive measurable reductions. A key element of this collaboration is the sharing of emissions data, enabling Orange and Camusat to assess the carbon footprint of deployed telecom infrastructures and track progress against shared sustainability objectives. This structured data exchange will help sharpen strategies as the companies move towards their climate goals.

Why it’s important

The partnership is critical to Orange’s strategy of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Although the company has already made strong progress in cutting scope 1 and 2 emissions, scope 3—mostly from its supply chain—remains the biggest contributor, accounting for more than 80% of its total GHG emissions. Collaborating with suppliers like Camusat allows Orange to tackle these harder-to-reach emissions head-on, making the 2040 target more achievable.

More broadly, this move reflects a growing shift across the telecom sector towards sustainable infrastructure. As global connectivity demands increase, so too does the environmental burden of new networks. By partnering with suppliers committed to decarbonisation, Orange is setting a new benchmark for environmental responsibility in the industry.
