    • The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) has chosen Juniper Networks as its IP-based broadcasting infrastructure provider to support its digital transformation.
    • NRK will implement Juniper’s MPLS-based automated Wide Area Network (WAN) to support its live and on-demand television, radio, and online media broadcasting services. This initiative will provide NRK with fast and reliable connectivity while enhancing the quality of the end-user experience when consuming its content.

    What happened

NRK has chosen Juniper Networks as its IP-based broadcasting infrastructure provider to support its digital transformation. NRK’s Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer, Pål Nedregotten, stated: “NRK’s production network is crucial for us to create world-class content across Norway and engage with our audience. “We must invest in the most powerful and scalable technology to meet our needs. I believe NRK now has a sustainable and flexible network platform that will lead the organization into the future.

AE Natarajan, Executive Vice President of Juniper Networks, highlighted the importance of broadcast content. He said the quality of live content is key to the user experience. NRK is using WAN automation to provide an excellent user experience for both subscribers and the operations team. Additionally, this helps speed up the delivery and innovation of new services.

NRK’s new network will use cloud-optimized hardware and automated software for real-time traffic management. This will make it easier to manage and operate the system. The deployment of this automated network is expected to significantly enhance NRK’s reliability and user experience while supporting its long-term zero-carbon emission goals.

    Why it is important

NRK’s choice reflects its commitment to digital transformation. This is an inevitable choice to adapt to the development of the digital economy. By using an IP-based network, NRK can improve the efficiency and quality of its broadcasts. This helps meet the audience’s demand for high-quality content. NRK uses Juniper Networks’ advanced technology to improve support for its live and on-demand services. This includes television, radio, and online media broadcasting. This will improve the viewing experience for the audience, especially with live content. It ensures there is no stuttering or delays during transmission. By adopting cloud-optimized hardware and automated software, NRK’s new network will be easier to manage and operate. This design enhances the network’s reliability, ensuring the stable transmission of broadcast content.

In summary, NRK’s choice of Juniper Networks as its IP-based broadcast infrastructure provider is a key step in its digital transformation strategy. This will not only enhance NRK’s service capabilities and audience experience but also drive the entire broadcasting industry towards a more efficient and sustainable future.
