RIPE NCC engages in ITU Forum, boosts work with CIS countries

The Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) took part in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Development Forum (RDF) for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), held on March 26-27, 2024.

Highlights at ITU Forum

The ITU RDF offers a platform for substantive discussions among the telecommunication development, member states, and ITU-D sector members, focusing primarily on the execution of regional initiatives.

Throughout the forum, meetings were convened with ITU leadership to explore collaborative opportunities regarding capacity-building initiatives and the deployment of IPv6 in Central Asia.

Productive discussions ensued with the Unions of Operators of Armenia and Kazakhstan, facilitating the exchange of successful programs and the formulation of joint initiatives.

Moreover, an invitation was extended to participate in establishing the IPv6 Council and Forum in Kazakhstan, building upon a previous contribution made in Uzbekistan.

RIPE NCC strengthens ties with ITU

This engagement further strengthens the RIPE NCC’s longstanding collaboration with the ITU and its members in diverse regions, encompassing Central Asia and the Middle East.

During the previous year’s meeting between the RIPE NCC leadership and ITU Secretary General Doreen Bogdan-Martin, general directions for cooperation between the two organizations were also addressed.
