    • Provides secure, scalable communication solutions for businesses across various industries.

Twilio: Navigating the Singaporean SMS landscape

In Singapore, Twilio provides businesses with guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance and effective message delivery. Companies must obtain explicit user consent before sending SMS communications, particularly for marketing purposes, to align with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Messages should also be sent within appropriate local hours to avoid inconveniencing recipients. To enhance customer experience, Twilio mandates support for standard “HELP” and “STOP” commands, allowing users to manage their messaging preferences easily.

Businesses must also ensure they do not contact numbers listed on do-not-call registries, which is crucial for maintaining trust and avoiding legal issues. Another critical requirement is registering alphanumeric sender IDs with the Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) to prevent messages from being flagged as “Likely-SCAM.” Unregistered sender IDs may be altered or blocked, reducing deliverability and affecting communication efficiency. By following these regulations, businesses can ensure seamless and compliant SMS communications in Singapore while maintaining customer trust and engagement.
