What happened：Automating configuration protection for critical infrastructure
Assured Data Protection has introduced Assured Backup with BackBox, a new managed service for backing up and restoring network and security device configurations, developed in partnership with BackBox.
The service focuses on configurations for firewalls, switches, routers and other devices at the heart of enterprise networks, automating backups and version control for more than 5,000 device types. Assured said that configuration files are stored in an encrypted off‑site repository and can be restored to a “known good state” rapidly after a cyber incident, outage or hardware failure — potentially shaving hours off recovery times for individual devices.
Assured framed the launch as addressing a long‑standing blind spot in many enterprise resilience strategies: configuration recovery is often manual, inconsistent and unencrypted, increasing risk and prolonging downtime when devices fail or attacks occur.
BackBox, which supplies the technology behind the service, is known for its network cyber resilience platform that supports numerous vendors and automates lifecycle tasks such as backups, compliance checks and restorations.
