  • Nicolas Roy, CEO of Totem since 2021, will step down to lead Orange Group’s data center strategy and business development.
  • Roy’s new role underscores Orange’s focus on scalable, high-performance data centers as critical infrastructure for AI and cloud computing.

What happened: Nicolas Roy’s new role at Orange

Nicolas Roy, the CEO of Totem (Orange’s tower-focused subsidiary) since its launch in October 2021, has announced that he will step aside to lead Orange Group’s data center strategy and business development unit. This move was revealed in a LinkedIn announcement, highlighting Roy’s excitement about shaping the future of Orange’s data center ecosystem. Totem operates over 27,000 towers in France and Spain, and Roy has been instrumental in its growth.

Orange currently owns 75 data centers across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, which it refers to as the “network brain” on its website. Roy’s new role is expected to focus on enhancing these data centers to support the growing demands of AI, cloud computing, and digital sovereignty. His experience, including his tenure as CTO of Orange France, positions him well to drive this strategic initiative.
