Exa Infrastructure and Ultranet are building a 175 km fibre route to enhance connectivity between Milan and Genoa, two of Italy’s key data hubs. The project will extend Exa’s Genoa Metro network, linking major Cable Landing Stations (CLS), including Lagaccio, Equinix, and the Genoa Open CLS. Once completed, Exa will introduce an open landing platform for subsea cables, offering five diverse routes out of Genoa to strengthen data flow and network resilience.

Genoa is rapidly growing as a market, supported by several subsea cable landing points and data centres operated by companies such as Sparkle and Equinix. The new fibre route is expected to support high-performance data loads, enhancing Italy’s digital infrastructure.
