  • Arelion launches diverse mesh routes connecting Austin, Dallas, and Houston.
  • Expansion enhances AI/ML and cloud connectivity across the DASH region.

What happened: Arelion enhances Texas connectivity with AI-optimised routes

Arelion has launched three new fully diverse mesh routes in Texas, forming a ring between Austin, Dallas, and Houston, with additional capacity extending to San Antonio and El Paso. This network expansion enhances connectivity for AI/ML and cloud applications in the growing DASH (Dallas-Austin-San Antonio-Houston) region.

By enabling direct connections to hyperscale data centres and bypassing traditional carrier hotels, Arelion’s new routes improve network availability, reduce latency, and enhance cross-border traffic between the US and Mexico. With Texas emerging as a major AI/ML hub, this investment supports the region’s increasing demand for high-capacity, low-latency connectivity.

Why it’s important

Texas is the second-largest data centre market in the US after Virginia, with North Texas experiencing a 173% rise in data centre power demand in 2023. The growing reliance on AI and cloud computing has driven a fourfold increase in hyperscale data centre construction across Austin and San Antonio.

Arelion’s expansion strengthens its global Internet backbone, offering IP Transit, Wavelengths, Cloud Connect, and DDoS Mitigation. By improving connectivity options and expanding routes into Mexico, this initiative supports economic growth and positions Texas as a key hub for AI/ML innovation.
