    • Bhushan Patel, with over three decades in telecom and OSS, becomes head of TMT at NTT Data UK&I.
    • His appointment underlines NTT Data’s aim to strengthen its full-stack presence and AI-led transformation capabilities in the TMT sector.

What happened: Appointment of Bhushan Patel at NTT Data UK&I

NTT Data UK&I has named Bhushan Patel as head of telecom, media and technology (TMT), effective 13 August 2025. Patel, with over 30 years of sector experience, most recently served as chief growth officer for strategic accounts in the EU and UK at Proadapt. His career includes a 16-year tenure at Tech Mahindra, where he held senior leadership positions such as senior vice-president and head of Communication, Media & Entertainment for UKI & Southern Europe and EMEA. During that period, he expanded the firm’s services into networks, operations support systems (OSS) and 5G solutions for operators and enterprise clients.

Patel described NTT Data as having “the credibility of managing a Tier 1 global operator alongside state-of-the-art infrastructure,” highlighting its operational experience in advanced networks in Japan and its global network of over 150 data centres. He said he aimed to sharpen the company’s positioning as a “full-stack, full-service growth enabler” in the TMT sector. CEO Niccolo Spataro welcomed the appointment, emphasising Patel’s technical expertise, market insight and delivery focus as vital to advancing NTT Data’s role in the sector.

    Why it is important

The TMT industry is shifting rapidly due to advances in AI, 5G, and evolving media consumption patterns. NTT Data’s full-stack approach—spanning infrastructure, digital transformation, and tailored sector solutions—mirrors a broader market trend towards integrated service delivery. Patel’s deep experience in OSS, network engineering and 5G aligns directly with these shifts, giving NTT Data a stronger footing to compete for large-scale transformation projects. His track record of expanding portfolios beyond traditional IT signals that the company is positioning itself for higher-value engagements.

With a competitive market demanding partners who offer scale, reliability and innovation, Patel’s leadership could strengthen NTT Data’s appeal to both telecom operators and media firms. The emphasis on the company’s “150+ data centres” reinforces its infrastructure depth, while its AI-led services add a future-ready dimension. The move reflects a pragmatic strategy to evolve from a traditional IT provider into a growth partner capable of delivering complex, end-to-end solutions for the TMT industry.
