Why it’s important

This partnership is a turning point for AI adoption in Japan. The country has been traditionally cautious with new technologies. The introduction of ChatGPT Enterprise will accelerate the digital transformation of Japanese businesses. It will provide scalable, high-performance AI tools tailored to their specific needs.

The launch of agentic AI, which automates business processes, could transform industries like manufacturing and finance. OpenAI has been working to make agentic AI mainstream with tools like “GPTs” and the autonomous “Operator.” Through this partnership, OpenAI aims to expand generative AI use across Japan and the Asia Pacific region.

NTT Data plans significant growth in its AI business. It targets $697 million in sales by 2027. Both companies will also establish a centre of excellence for ongoing AI support, ensuring the partnership’s long-term success.
