  • SG.GS establishes a new PoP in Guam, enhancing connectivity and network resilience across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Guam PoP connects key undersea cable systems, providing redundancy and ensuring reliable data flow during network disruptions.
  • Future plans include North American routes, reinforcing SG.GS’s commitment to scalable, robust connectivity for global businesses.

Global telecommunications carrier SG.GS has established a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Guam, marking an important step in its efforts to enhance connectivity and network resilience across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This move bolsters SG.GS’s ability to provide reliable and flexible services to its customers.

Guam: A strategic hub for APAC connectivity

Guam’s location as a crossroads for undersea cable systems makes it a critical interconnection point in the APAC region. By setting up a PoP at the Piti Cable Landing Station, SG.GS gains access to major cable systems such as JGA-North, JGA-South, and AAG. This development not only boosts the network’s resilience but also improves traffic management and rerouting options during cable outages.

This strategic addition allows SG.GS to support the rising demand for secure and stable connectivity across the region. Businesses and organisations can now leverage the enhanced capabilities of the Guam PoP, benefiting from its reliable infrastructure and improved regional links.

Paving the way for future connectivity

The new PoP integrates alternative routes between Asia and Sydney via three cable systems, creating multiple layers of redundancy. This ensures a steady flow of data even during network interruptions, offering a dependable pathway for traffic across APAC.

Shawn Ang, Managing Director of SG.GS, commented, “Expanding into Guam reflects our focus on strengthening the network for our customers. This new PoP and the additional subsea routes will provide improved connectivity between the Asia-Pacific and North America, offering greater resilience and flexibility.”

Further enhancements to the network are planned, including additional connections to North America next year. By integrating Guam into its core infrastructure, SG.GS reinforces its commitment to providing robust and adaptable connectivity in an increasingly interconnected world.
