GlobalNet, a backbone Internet Service Provider, has successfully deployed a fully protected, ring-based DWDM network across Central Europe. This new infrastructure comprises two rings: one connecting Frankfurt, Berlin, Warsaw, Katowice, and Prague, and the other linking Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Vienna, and Bratislava, creating a cohesive fiber optic system.

The launch of Points of Presence (PoPs) in Prague and Bratislava has been crucial for this expansion, as they integrate previously separate network segments into two fully operational DWDM rings. These locations are set to become essential nodes for managing traffic from Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

The enhanced DWDM network underpins GlobalNet’s range of services, including Capacity (DWDM, Wavelength, L2VPN, VLAN) and DATAIX Internet Exchange services, with bandwidth capabilities of up to 400G per port. The ring structure improves network redundancy and decreases latency by providing alternative routing options in case of channel failures. This fault-tolerant design ensures uninterrupted service through rerouted traffic, thus bolstering overall network reliability.
