As we approach MWC Shanghai’s return on 26 June, anticipation is building to welcome global connectivity leaders back to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre for Asia’s largest and most influential connectivity ecosystem event.
This year, we celebrate the return of industry giants such as Huawei, Lenovo, and ZTE. Meanwhile, we are excited to see first-time attendees among exhibitors including Amazon Web Services, iFLYTEK, Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology, and Xiaomi. With China expected to reach 1 billion 5G connections by the year’s end, attendees will witness firsthand how cutting-edge mobile innovations are transforming the world’s largest mobile market.

Connected industries
The Connected Industries section in Hall N4 will showcase the future of various vertical sectors, highlighting how mobile connectivity is revolutionising industries such as FinTech, healthcare, supply chain, and automotive. This area will feature two industry summits focusing on Manufacturing and Smart Mobility, demonstrating the significant impact of mobile technologies on smarter, more sustainable production, products, and services.

Manufacturing, a key beneficiary of mobile technology, is projected to generate over $330bn of economic value from 5G by 2030 through smart factory applications. The Manufacturing Summit will explore new technology applications in this sector, including AI, the Industrial Internet of Things, edge computing, and augmented reality. Speakers will share insights on overcoming adoption challenges and achieving tangible returns on investment.
The Smart Mobility Summit will present the latest advancements in drone deliveries, electric vehicles, self-driving cars, and flying taxis. Panel discussions will cover emerging topics such as the mid-low altitude economy in Asia and the future of intelligent connected vehicles.

5G IN
In Hall N5, attendees should visit 5G IN (5G Innovation and Investment Group), a GSMA Foundry project designed to stimulate 5G innovation and cross-sector collaboration. This initiative brings together mobile operators, industry partners, and investors. Exhibitors at 5G IN 2024 include AGILIC (Tianjin) Technologies Co., Ltd., FZ-LLC, General Power Microelectronics Technology Limited, Shanghai Fanchuang Communication Technology Co., Ltd., and others.
GSMA Programmes
MWC Shanghai will feature five stages hosting leading figures from the connectivity ecosystem. These sessions will address pressing technology challenges, new standards, and the latest business and engineering trends, providing valuable insights into emerging technologies.
Key GSMA Programmes include:
- The 5G IoT Summit: Scheduled from 10:00-12:30 on Wednesday, 26 June at the MWC Open Stage (N4 E70), this session will explore the growth of 5G Massive IoT, enabling technologies, partnerships, and global trends in IoT.
- The Satellite and Non-terrestrial Networks Summit: Taking place from 10:00-12:30 on Friday, 28 June at the MWC Open Stage (N4 E70), this session will discuss the potential of satellite networks to revolutionise global connectivity, recent technological advancements, and regulatory considerations for scalability.
