AI Summit spotlights business innovations and sustainability

Panel participation at AFR AI Summit

AirTrunk’s Chief Customer & Innovation Officer, Damien Spillane, was a key participant in the ‘AI making big businesses better’ panel at the inaugural Australian Financial Review AI Summit held in Sydney. He was joined by industry leaders such as Melanie Silva from Google, Kim Krogh Andersen from Telstra, and Adam Bennett from Suncorp Group, with Cosima Marriner, AFR’s Managing Editor, moderating the session. The discussion delved into both existing applications of AI and its prospective benefits for businesses and society.

Insights on AI’s role in business and society

During the discussion, Damien Spillane highlighted the critical role of AI in fostering a vibrant ecosystem that supports the economy, businesses, and society at large. He emphasised the need for collaboration to realise Australia’s AI ambitions and detailed AirTrunk’s commitment to sustainable practices. These include implementing innovative technologies like liquid cooling systems to enhance operational efficiency and supporting broader energy transition initiatives.

Sustainable energy collaboration announced

Furthering the theme of sustainability, Damien Spillane shared news of a strategic collaboration between Google, AirTrunk, and OX2, a renewable energy provider. The partnership recently culminated in the announcement of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and the development of a new solar farm. This project aims to significantly increase the renewable energy generation capacity within Australia’s energy grid, marking a substantial step towards sustainable energy solutions.
