Arm aims to launch AI chips in 2025

  • UK-based Arm will set up an AI chip division and aim to build a prototype by spring 2025
  • Bets that Arm will benefit from a surge in AI computing have doubled the chipmaker’s share price since its initial public offering last September, giving it a market value of more than $100 billion.

U.K.-based Arm plans to create an AI chip division that will develop prototypes by spring 2025. It is expected to begin in the fall of 2025, and large-scale production will go to contract manufacturers.

The purpose of developing AI chips

Since its initial public offering last September, ARM’s market share price has doubled to a market capitalisation of more than $100 billion. making it the largest IPO in the U.S. since November 2021, and the largest IPO in the world in terms of fundraising since Porsche’s listing in Frankfurt in September 2022.
