Microsoft is gearing up to release its long-awaited Copilot digital assistant alongside an array of AI-powered features in the upcoming Windows 11 23H2 update, scheduled for September 26th. Copilot takes its place as a central offering: a context-aware digital assistant that uses web intelligence and user activity to give users the level of assistance they’ve never witnessed before. All this, while prioritizing user privacy and security.

Windows 11’s Main Offerings

Copilot can be easily accessed via the taskbar or a keyboard shortcut (Win+C) and is designed to handle tasks like adjusting Windows settings and summarizing lengthy web articles.

In addition to Copilot, the Windows 11 23H2 update introduces AI enhancements across various applications. The Paint Cocreator tool combines generative art and text-to-image capabilities for effortless digital art creation.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate AI-based Background Blur in the Photos app. This simplifies background blurring and presents the ability to search photos in OneDrive based on content or location.

Clipchamp, the video editor, has been updated with built-in AI capabilities. It now offers automatic video generation and editing; along with scene suggestions and narrative shaping based on images and footage.

This update packs over 150 new features, making it one of the most ambitious Windows 11 updates to date. Copilot will be enabled by default but can be managed through Microsoft Intune policy or Group Policy, catering to enterprise customers.

Updates for Enterprise Users Coming Up

Furthermore, Microsoft 365 Copilot is set to launch on November 1, 2023, for enterprise users. It will be accompanied by Microsoft 365 Chat, an AI assistant designed to improve the efficiency of common work processes.

For clarity, please take note: the September 26th update is focused on Windows 11 22H2, not the next major version, Windows 11 23H2, which is slated for release in Q4 2023.
