SIGGRAPH 2023, a milestone event marking its 50th anniversary as the premier conference and exhibition for computer graphics and interactive technologies, is all set to take place in Los Angeles from August 6 to 10, 2023.
This year’s conference boasts an impressive lineup of sponsored keynote speakers from industry giants like Nvidia, SONY, Unity Technologies, and Vast. Their talks will delve into the fascinating world of new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, and how they influence creativity, aid artistic endeavours, and fuel the development of imagination.
VR Theatre in the Itinerary
As always, SIGGRAPH remains at the forefront of VR, AR, and MR research. Attendees can look forward to exploring the latest innovations in these fields, with a VR theatre showcasing the best VR short films.
Meta has also joined the excitement by unveiling two groundbreaking VR headset prototypes, showcasing remarkable progress in tackling persistent technical challenges in the VR domain. The first prototype boasts retinal resolution and varifocal optics, while the second one impresses with its advanced light field passthrough capabilities.
Talks on 3D Artistry Anticipated
One of the highly anticipated sessions at the event is Unity Wētā Tools’ presentation titled “Assisted Artistry Unleashed: Powering the Future of Film and Real-time 3D.”
The talented minds behind Unity Tools, Allan Poore, Natalya Tatarchuk, and Joe Letteri, will demonstrate how their cutting-edge technology is revolutionising character creation, environment building, rendering, and compositing.
They’ll showcase its application in award-winning films, speeding up creative workflows, enabling easier creative changes, and delivering higher quality shots.
Nvidia Founder to Give Keynote Speech
The SIGGRAPH audience will also have the privilege of witnessing Nvidia’s founder and CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, in a keynote address. He will exclusively introduce the company’s latest technologies, including award-winning research, Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) development, and AI solutions for content creation.
Hiroaki Kitano, the Chief Technology Officer of SONY Group Corporation, will captivate attendees in his keynote speech, “Pioneering the Future of Creation.”
Kitano will host leading figures from SONY Group entertainment to discuss how creativity and technology synergize to bring their creative visions to life.
