    • OpenAI is an American Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory consisting of the non-profit organisation OpenAI Inc. and its for-profit subsidiary OpenAI LP.
    • OpenAI started as a non-profit in 2015 and transitioned to a for-profit company in 2019. 2020 has so far released products such as ChatGPT, Sora and DALL-E, and maintains a strong partnership with Microsoft.
    • OpenAI API allows for easy integration of OpenAI’s AI capabilities into a variety of applications and services. If you’re an absolute beginner at OpenAI API, try the following steps and get you to make your first API call.

OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research centre located in San Francisco, USA, and having an OpenAI can use related AI products. Although OpenAI said on April 1 that it will license users to use ChatGPT directly without registration, getting to know the OpenAI account and related content is still necessary.

    OpenAI and its products

OpenAI is an American Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory consisting of the non-profit organisation OpenAI Inc. and its for-profit subsidiary OpenAI LP. OpenAI conducts AI research to promote and develop friendly artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity as a whole.

OpenAI started as a non-profit in 2015 and transitioned to a for-profit company in 2019. 2020 has so far released products such as ChatGPT, Sora and DALL-E, and maintains a strong partnership with Microsoft, which owns the exclusive license to use GPT.

On June 11, 2020, the GPT-3 language model was announced, and on September 22, 2020, Microsoft acquired the exclusive license. In 2021, OpenAI launched DALL-E, a deep-learning model that generates digital images from natural language descriptions.

On November 30, 2022, OpenAI released a natural language generative model called ChatGPT, which interacts conversationally. During the research preview period, ChatGPT is available for free to users who register and log in.

On March 2, 2023, OpenAI released the official ChatGPT Application Programming Interface (API) and allowed third-party developers to use the API to integrate ChatGPT into their websites, products, and services.

On March 14, 2023, OpenAI released GPT-4, both as an API (with a waiting list) and as a feature of ChatGPT Plus. Microsoft provided it with a second multi-year investment in January 2023, reportedly $10 billion, for an exclusive license to use GPT-4, which will also provide support for Microsoft’s own Bing Prometheus model.

On February 15, 2024, OpenAI released Sora, claiming that the model is capable of generating videos up to one minute long. At the same time, OpenAI acknowledged some of the shortcomings of the technology, including difficulties in modelling complex physical phenomena.

The reference to an OpenAI account would be to the OpenAI API, which is a gateway for developers to access OpenAI’s powerful models, including GPT (Generative Pre-Training Transformer) and other versions, through cloud-based services. It allows for easy integration of OpenAI’s AI capabilities into a variety of applications and services.

If you’re an absolute beginner at OpenAI API, try the following steps and get you to make your first API call.

First, you need to create an account on the OpenAI platform. Click “Sign up” on the bottom left of the chat screen and follow the prompts to enter your information.

You can use the OpenAI platform by registering with your email address, Google account, Microsoft account, or Apple account.

After that, you’ll get your API key, then Install the OpenAI Python library. and Make your first API call. Then you’ll be ready to explore this powerful platform.
