What happened

Susan Wojcicki, a pioneering figure in the tech industry who played a significant role in the development and success of Google and YouTube, has died at the age of 56. Wojcicki was a respected leader who began her collaboration with Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin when she rented them her garage in 1998 which became Google’s first office. She later joined Google as its marketing manager in 1999 and eventually became the CEO of YouTube, a position she held from 2014 to 2023.

Her husband, Dennis Troper, announces her death, revealing that she passed away after a two-year battle with non-small cell lung cancer. Wojcicki is not only a trailblaser in the tech world but also a beloved wife and mother. Her passing marks a profound loss for the industry and for all who knows her, as she is widely admired for her leadership, vision, and the impact she had on both Google and YouTube.
