The updates presented at OpenAI’s first developer conference provide a glimpse into a future where everyone can develop software using natural language, have multiple personal assistants, and purchase popular personal assistants as if they were browsing apps on an app store.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shares impressive statistics at developer conference

OpenAI introduces custom chatbots with GPTs and GPT Store

ChatGPT allows users to create their own version of ChatGPT for specific purposes, without coding. These customised versions are known as GPTs and were used to form the GPT Store, which was released shortly thereafter.

One of the key announcements made at this developer event was the introduction of custom chatbots. These chatbots are based on ChatGPT’s underlying large language model (LLM) and are created using a new GPT Builder, which allows anyone to customise and share their own AI assistants using natural language.

According to OpenAI, GPTs offer a new way for anyone to create a customized version of ChatGPT that can be more helpful in their daily life, whether it’s for a specific task at work or at home. Once created, users can share their GPT creations with others. For instance, GPTs can assist with learning the rules of any board game, teaching children math, or designing stickers.

On November 6, OpenAI released a statement saying that anyone can easily build their own GPT without coding. Creating a GPT is as simple as starting a conversation, providing it with instructions and additional knowledge, and then selecting its capabilities, such as searching the web, creating images, or analysing data.

OpenAI’s GPT Store to allow users to share

OpenAI has announced plans to launch a GPT Store later this month, allowing users to share and sell their custom GPT bots. The store will function as an aggregator platform for users to discover and purchase these custom bots.

In addition, OpenAI revealed that ChatGPT has now reached 100 million weekly users. Since releasing ChatGPT’s API features in March, the company has attracted over 2 million developers, with more than 92% of them coming from Fortune 500 companies.
