What happened

Nokia has been selected by TIM Brasil to expand its 5G network across 15 states in Brazil, beginning January 2025. This collaboration will see Nokia supplying TIM with a comprehensive range of 5G equipment from its AirScale portfolio. This includes baseband units, Massive MIMO radios, and Remote Radio Heads, all powered by Nokia’s ReefShark System-on-Chip technology. This advanced technology is designed to provide enhanced coverage, capacity, and efficiency.

TIM will also deploy Nokia’s MantaRay Networks Management system, which integrates AI capabilities to improve network monitoring and management. The agreement includes Nokia providing digital deployment, optimisation, and technical support services. This expansion will significantly increase the number of municipalities with access to 5G, offering high-speed and secure connectivity to a broader population.
