    • Meta is reportedly in talks with top talent agencies to secure the voices of actors and influencers like Judi Dench, Keegan-Michael Key, and Awkwafina for its AI offerings, with the intention of showcasing these new voices at its Meta Connect conference in September.
    • The integration of celebrity voices into Meta’s AI products, such as MetaAI, aims to enhance user experience by providing a more personalised and engaging interaction, though the novelty of such implementations may wear off quickly for some users.

    OUR TAKE
Meta is in talks with top Hollywood talent agencies to add the voices of celebrities such as Judi Dench, Keegan-Michael Key and Awkwafina to its AI products, with plans to show off these new features at the Meta Connect conference in September. These voices will be integrated into Meta’s social media platforms and products such as Facebook, Instagram and Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. While such innovations may soon become commonplace, the use of celebrity voices may be more appealing if Meta AI can offer the same features as regular AI.

    What happened

Meta is in active talks with several actors and influencers, including Judi Dench, Keegan-Michael Key, and Awkwafina, with the goal of integrating their voices into Meta’s AI products. Meta wants to showcase these newly integrated voices at the Meta Connect conference in September. These voices will be used in at least one digital assistant product called MetaAI. Meta is in talks with all of Hollywood’s top agencies to secure the rights to use these voices. According to the New York Times, actors who sign on could be paid millions of dollars.

Meta’s move aims to enhance the appeal and interactivity of its AI products by bringing in the voices of well-known personalities. These voices will be integrated into several of Meta’s platforms and products, including Facebook, Instagram, and Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. While such innovations may soon become commonplace, the use of celebrity voices may be even more appealing if Meta AI can offer the same features as regular AI.

    Why it’s important

By integrating the voices of well-known celebrities into its AI products, Meta is not only seeking to innovate in technology, but also exploring the user experience. This strategy may greatly enhance the appeal of Meta’s products as it combines entertainment and technology to provide users with a more personalised and interactive experience. This approach may also lead to new business opportunities and market advantages for Meta as it is able to attract more users and partners.

Such collaborations also promote the exploration of the application of AI technology across the industry, fostering the development and innovation of related technologies. For consumers, the application of such technology may lead to a richer and more interesting interactive experience, thus changing the way they interact with technology products.
