  • These solutions aim to enhance network performance, efficiency, and monetization opportunities.

What happened: Huawei’s AI-centric 5.5G solutions

At Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, Huawei unveiled its AI-Centric 5.5G solutions, designed to address the growing demands of mobile AI. The solutions, which include GigaGear, GreenPulse, and GainLeap, are intended to transform mobile networks by enhancing user experience, network efficiency, and business models.

Cao Ming, Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei Wireless Solution, highlighted that mobile AI is driving three major transformations in mobile networks:

  1. User Experience: From downlink gravitation to diverse dimensions, including higher uplink for multimodal AI interactions, lower latency for real-time agent chats, and cell-free coverage for ubiquitous AI accessibility.
  2. Network O&M: From Autonomous Network (AN) L3 to AN L4 and beyond, addressing increased power consumption and network complexity.
  3. Business Models: From traffic-based to multi-factor monetization, shifting from traffic to experience monetization.

Huawei’s GigaGear solution focuses on intent-driven resource collaboration across time, frequency, spatial, and power domains, ensuring efficient and dynamic network scheduling. GreenPulse introduces intent-driven automation to enhance spectral and energy efficiency, while GainLeap focuses on experience optimization and value monetization.

Why it’s important

Huawei’s AI-Centric 5.5G solutions represent a strategic push to transform telecommunications infrastructure for the mobile AI era. These solutions are designed to meet the evolving demands of mobile networks, driven by the rapid growth of AI applications.

By introducing intent-driven technologies, Huawei aims to enhance network performance, efficiency, and monetization opportunities. This initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between carriers, regulators, and technology providers to build a sustainable and intelligent mobile network infrastructure.
