CALM launches IoT-powered alert system for building owners

  • Albireo Energy and Huron Capital introduce Critical Alarm Messenger (CALM), an innovative IoT-enabled alert system for building owners.
  • CALM integrates seamlessly with existing building automation systems (BAS), offering 24×7 notification and escalation services for critical building system faults.
  • With secure cloud-based communication and comprehensive alarm management features, CALM empowers building owners to prioritise, address, and mitigate potential issues efficiently.

Albireo Energy, an independent building controls and energy services provider, in collaboration with Huron Capital portfolio company, has unveiled a game-changing solution for building owners – the Critical Alarm Messenger (CALM). With CALM, building owners can proactively manage system faults, enhance operational efficiency, and mitigate risks.

Enhancing building management with CALM

Albireo Energy, in collaboration with Huron Capital, introduces Critical Alarm Messenger (CALM), an IoT-enabled, 24×7 notification and escalation service to alert building owners and their teams of issues with their most critical building systems. Through seamless integration and efficient communication, CALM empowers building owners and teams to proactively address critical issues within their facilities, enhancing operational efficiency and risk management.

Seamless integration and communication

CALM seamlessly integrates into pre-existing building automation systems (BAS), leveraging historical data to identify critical alarm points. Once integrated, the cloud-based platform swiftly communicates alerts to designated team members via text, phone, and email, ensuring prompt response and resolution of system faults. A structured notification tree facilitates effective escalation, ensuring that critical alarms are addressed promptly by the appropriate personnel.

“Building systems will fail, and it always seems to happen at two a.m. on weekends and holidays,” said Brad Freeman, a senior vice president of operations at Albireo Energy. “There’s nothing worse than waking up in the morning to find an email from your BAS saying that the data centre stopped working or there’s a water leak in the cold storage of your pharmaceutical lab. With CALM, building owners and their teams can prioritise critical alarms in their buildings and campuses and essentially automate a building crisis and continuity plan. While CALM won’t stop the system failure, it will allow you to get ahead of it, which is key to effective risk management and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG).”
