What happened
Adobe (ADBE.O) will unveil a new generative AI-powered video creation and editing tool in a limited release later this year, the software maker announced on Wednesday. This move is part of Adobe’s strategy to enhance its suite of applications designed for creative professionals.
Named Adobe Firefly Video Model, the artificial intelligence tool will be released in beta and will complement Adobe’s existing Firefly suite of image-generating applications, which enable users to create still images, designs, and vector graphics.
The model will position Adobe in the expanding market for AI-based video generation tools, a sector already being pursued by OpenAI’s Sora, Stability AI’s Stable Video Diffusion, and various AI video applications from smaller startups.
The tool can generate a five-second clip from a single prompt and can interpret both text and image prompts, according to Alexandru Costin, Vice President of Generative AI at Adobe. Users can also specify details such as camera angle, panning, motion, and zoom.

Adobe stated that the video model is trained on public domain or licensed content that it has permission to use, and not on any content from Adobe customers.
