2024 ICANN Middle East DNS Forum: What to expect

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Name and Numbers (ICANN) has announced the 10th anniversary of the Middle East Domain Name System Forum (MEDNSF). The forum will be co-organised by The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency of Morocco and ICANN, taking place online and in Rabat, Morocco, on April 24-25, 2024.

About MEDNSF 2024

The MEDNSF has been a critical platform where industry leaders, policymakers, technical experts, and stakeholders converge, exchange ideas, and influence the future of the Domain Name System (DNS) ecosystem in the region.

The Middle East DNS Forum’s 2024 edition, with the theme “Celebrating Progress in the Middle East’s DNS Journey,” will examine how the digital landscape has changed over the last 10 years and delve into the tactics and innovations fostering future expansion and sustainability.

MEDNSF highlights

Attendees can explore Morocco’s digital evolution. The forum marks a decade of impactful dialogues with a panel discussing its transformative influence on the regional domain industry.

Participants will explore AI’s role in domain name searches. Key topics such as intellectual property rights, DNS abuse, cybersecurity frameworks, and new generic top-level domains will also be covered, providing essential insights for protecting the digital landscape.

About MEDNSF

Annually, the MEDNSF endeavors to cultivate communication, collaboration, and innovation within the realm of DNS and internet governance across the Middle East.

Established in 2014, the forum has been instrumental in uniting stakeholders, policymakers, industry leaders, and technical specialists to address the opportunities and key challenges shaping the digital landscape.

At the opening ceremony, distinguished speakers such as Sally Costerton, ICANN’s interim president and CEO, Baher Esmat, ICANN’s vice president of stakeholder engagement – Middle East and managing director for the Middle East and Africa, and Az-El-Arabe Hassibi, general director of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency of Morocco, will deliver remarks.
