This week, Hyundai showcased the Ioniq 5 N performance electric vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show and announced that it will officially arrive on the market in March 2024, bringing a new driving experience to consumers.

The Ioniq 5 N is an upgraded version of Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 series, based on the E-GMP, a platform dedicated to pure electric vehicles, emphasizing performance and driving enjoyment. This model is anticipated to showcase a sophisticated electric powertrain, promising impressive acceleration and exceptional handling capabilities.

Additionally, enhancements have been made to elevate the practicality and comfort of the Ioniq 5 N. Through the integration of cutting-edge smart technologies, it aims to provide drivers with a more convenient and intelligent travel experience.

Personalised driving experience

To cater to the needs of those who love to drive, the car has been specially introduced with some unique features. N e-shift is used to give the driver a driving experience similar to that of an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission petrol car. In addition, N Active Sound-plus emits artificial engine noise to create a more realistic driving environment for the driver. These features are designed to give the driver a more realistic driving experience, making every drive fun and exciting.

Advanced electric powertrain

The Ioniq 5 N is powered by an 84kWh battery (77.4kWh for SE, SEL, and Limited models) with an as yet undisclosed driving range. Charging is fast, from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes, with a maximum charge of 238kW.

Superior acceleration

All Ioniq 5 N’s feature a two-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration that produces 601 horsepower in most conditions. When using the “N Grin Boost” mode, the powertrain can temporarily rotate itself to a maximum of 641 hp. The N can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.25 seconds.

Outstanding vehicle handling

Designed for the track, the Ioniq 5 N has been given a boost in stability, with more rigid behaviour on the track and when drifting. The handling is rally-inspired, with rack-mounted motor-driven power steering, a fast-steering ratio, and enhanced torque feedback. The single-pedal drive system, called “N Pedal“, assists the driver with powerful deceleration in corners, while allowing for some energy regeneration.
