PlaiDay allows selfies and personalisation in new text-to-video AI model

  • A new AI text-to-video platform can generate a three-second video for free in just a few minutes.
  • PlaiDay allows users to personalize the video by adding their own images and creating animated versions of themselves.
  • Plai Labs’ vision is to empower people to tell their unique stories and redefine the way stories are told through AI technology.

Plai Labs, the brainchild of MySpace co-founder Chris DeWolfe, has launched PlaiDay, an AI text-to-video product that can generate a three-second video for free in just a few minutes. The tool also allows users to add photos for personalisation. Plai Labs has said that the video duration will be extended in the future, and audio functionality will be added.

PlaiDay is just one of many AI video tools developed by major technology companies, including Google’s Imagen, Meta’s video production, OpenAI’s DALL-E, and Stable Diffusion. The advantage of PlaiDay is that it allows users to add selfies and other personal images to the video, for that personal touch. Want a short vid of yourself traversing mountain peaks, over torrid seas or traveling the streets of the last century? PlaiDay can deliver.

Initially, Plai Labs focused on developing blockchain-based games like Champions Ascension, which spun out of DeWolfe and Whitcomb’s previous company, Jam City. But now, Plai Labs has added PlaiDay as a new product line based on generative AI technology. PlaiDay is built on the company’s proprietary artificial intelligence platform, internally codenamed Orchestra. While the company is currently using Orchestra as an internal platform, Plai Labs plans to share the development platform with the world in the coming months.

Plai Labs’ vision is to empower people to tell their unique stories. The AI revolution has made everything “average”, the company said. This is the era of big data, but personal stories have been ignored. PlaiDay redefines the way stories are told, allowing users to directly integrate their personal preferences into the narratives.
