OpenAI’s ChatGPT has just gotten web search integration powered by Bing and image generation functionality courtesy of DALL-E 3. ChatGPT, powered by OpenAI‘s latest GPT-4 model, now gives users the ability to search the web for real-time information and generate images on the fly.

    Bing web search on beta

The Bing integration, currently running in beta, addresses a key limitation of ChatGPT. Previously, ChatGPT could only provide information based on its training data. Any information generated after its training data would not be available.

With Bing integration, ChatGPT can now access the web to provide answers to queries it couldn’t answer previously. When generating responses, ChatGPT cites the websites it sources information from to give users a chance to read more about the answers’ sources.

This integration was initially rolled out in May but was temporarily disabled due to concerns about the unauthorized retrieval of paywalled content. OpenAI has since fine-tuned the feature. Now, it is available to all Plus and Enterprise subscribers without the need for beta toggling.

    Image generation with DALL-E 3

In a significant leap, ChatGPT now integrates with DALL-E 3, an AI image generator that gained popularity for its realistic and sometimes mind-boggling images. DALL-E 3 excels at generating high-quality images and interpreting user requests accurately. Unlike previous models, it can follow complex drawing instructions and quickly generate output.

DALL-E 3 is known for its ability to create multiple image variations to better meet user requirements.

OpenAI likely to add more capabilities

OpenAI’s ChatGPT is on the rise, with a reported 30% growth in annualized revenue run-rate since August, reaching $1.3 billion. This surge is attributed to ChatGPT’s popularity among consumers, who can choose from ChatGPT Plus for enhanced response times or ChatGPT Enterprise designed for large organisations that require advanced cybersecurity controls.

This expansion goes beyond just text. ChatGPT now boasts audio and visual capabilities and is looking to look a lot like a versatile digital assistant. Users can engage in verbal conversations with ChatGPT and even request it to create and narrate bedtime stories. OpenAI continues to bridge the gap between voice assistants and powerful language models, offering an exciting and dynamic user experience.

    Meta Description

OpenAI’s ChatGPT evolves with Bing web search and DALL-E 3 image generation, empowering users with real-time info and image creation.
