What happened: María Domínguez Álvarez calls for women in STEM

María Domínguez Álvarez, a cybersecurity business development expert at Telefónica Tech, has called for greater visibility of women in STEM. Drawing from her experience as an engineer, she emphasises the importance of showcasing the work of women in these fields to inspire young girls to consider careers in science and technology. Álvarez believes that visibility is key to making STEM more accessible and appealing to future generations.

She also stresses the significance of female role models in breaking down gender stereotypes and promoting equal opportunities within the industry. She believes that showcasing the achievements of women in science and technology can help make these fields more accessible and exciting for girls, ultimately promoting equal opportunities.

Furthermore, Álvarez highlights the role of diversity in improving problem-solving and decision-making within STEM teams, which benefits both industry and society. Although the perception of technology as a male-dominated space persists, Álvarez is optimistic about future progress toward a more inclusive and fair world.
