Macquarie Telecom launches VeloCloud channel for MSPs

What happened: Macquarie expands SD-WAN access with new partner channel

Macquarie Telecom has signed a landmark agreement with VeloCloud, a division of Broadcom, to launch a new partner channel across Australia. This deal enables Macquarie to distribute VeloCloud’s industry-leading SD-WAN technology directly to managed service providers (MSPs) around the country, expanding its reach beyond its own customer base.

The initial four-year agreement includes an A$30 million investment by Macquarie. This financial commitment will allow the telco to offer the most favourable commercial terms available on VeloCloud’s technology, including deep discounts. These benefits are expected to help counteract the recent global price increases implemented by Broadcom.

Macquarie Telecom has also secured the position of VeloCloud’s sole Pinnacle Partner in Australia—a title granted in recognition of its early adoption of SD-WAN in 2017 and its continued market leadership. The company has deployed SD-WAN solutions to more Australian businesses than any other provider, setting the stage for this expanded partner initiative.

Why it is important

This agreement is a strategic breakthrough for the local ICT industry. By bringing SD-WAN to MSPs with a bundled offering—covering hardware, licensing, connectivity, and customer service—Macquarie is simplifying access to complex network technologies. Local billing in Australian dollars also shields partners from foreign exchange risk and vendor pricing fluctuations.

For Australian businesses, particularly mid-sized enterprises, the partnership means broader access to SD-WAN’s benefits. The technology improves network performance, enhances security, and supports the demands of modern apps and hybrid workforces. Macquarie’s investment opens the door for companies previously unable to afford or manage such infrastructure.

The launch of the VeloCloud Partner Channel also reflects Macquarie’s growing focus on collaboration and co-selling. Tony Emmanouil’s promotion to director of marketing and channel highlights the company’s commitment to its partner network. Partners won’t simply resell—they’ll work closely with Macquarie to tailor solutions to each customer’s needs.
