    • Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced on Thursday that the team that developed the Gemini app will move to DeepMind’s artificial intelligence research division. This is the company’s latest restructuring effort in artificial intelligence.
    • The move aims to put the team responsible for developing consumer-generated AI applications at the heart of DeepMind, making AI research and development more efficient while improving feedback loops.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the Gemini app team will move to DeepMind as part of the company’s latest AI reorganization. The goal is to simplify AI development and improve feedback by putting the generative AI team at the heart of DeepMind.

    What happened

Sissie Hsiao who is the leader of the Gemini app team, will report to DeepMind CEO (Demis Hassabis) after the transition. Google CEO Pichai mentioned that this integration will accelerate the deployment of new models in the Gemini app, improve post-training efficiency, and leverage product momentum to achieve greater progress.

Additionally, Prabhakar Raghavan responsible for key products such as Search, Ads, Gemini, Shopping, and Maps will no longer oversee these areas. He will take on a new strategic role as Google’s Chief Technology Officer and reporting to Pichai directly. Most of Raghavan’s job will be handed over to Nick Fox, a 21-year Google veteran who has led projects the launch of Google Fi.
