What happened: Wingu Group expands data centre to strengthen Tanzania’s digital growth

Wingu Group has announced the completion of the second phase of its data centre expansion in Tanzania, significantly enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure. This development builds on the success of its initial facility and aims to meet the increasing demand for reliable, high-capacity digital services.

The expansion includes a substantial increase in rack power, allowing for greater efficiency in supporting energy-intensive applications. Additional white space has been introduced to accommodate more racks, pods, and cages, ensuring scalability for future growth. The data centre remains carrier-neutral, providing businesses with flexible connectivity options through two new Meet-Me-Rooms that enable seamless interconnection between multiple operators.

Security measures have also been upgraded with the installation of advanced biometric security systems and a fully redundant uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to ensure continuous service. This initiative aligns with Wingu Group’s mission to support Tanzania’s growing digital economy by providing a robust and future-ready data infrastructure.

    Why it’s important

The expansion of Wingu Group’s data centre in Tanzania represents a critical step in advancing digital transformation in the region. By doubling power capacity and enhancing security, the facility is equipped to support businesses that require high-performance data processing and secure storage solutions.

As digital services grow, the demand for reliable connectivity is increasing. Wingu Group’s carrier-neutral approach provides businesses with more choices in network providers, helping to improve service reliability and redundancy. The addition of Meet-Me-Rooms ensures that multiple operators can interconnect efficiently, further strengthening the country’s digital ecosystem.

This development also supports Tanzania’s broader economic ambitions by attracting more businesses and investors looking for cutting-edge digital infrastructure. With this expansion, Wingu Group is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the country’s digital landscape.
